K kids - it's cliche' time! It's also "catch-up" time. |
|
"The times they are a changin'" |
"The more things change - the more
they stay the same." |

For the last 4 years I have travelled troughout California (& now Arizona!) conducting FREE seminars on P.O.D.

- This was the invitation... ON THE ROAD AGAIN! |
|
- And this was the wrap-up... END OF THE ROAD |

There were very few qualified companies offering this option and only one that was a leader in the field. As I had chosen them personally to
publish the first editions of my Editorial series, they also chose me to be their Publishing Agent in California. |
That company was Trafford Publishing & it's CEO and founder was Bruce Batchelor. |
The first thing you may notice is the complete eradication of any links to Trafford on this website. And "Why?" you may ask... |
Several reasons, both personal and professional and indicitive of industry-wide concern so I pass them on to you know in this overdue update. |
Bruce was not just my publisher and printer, he is a friend. Late in 2006 he was the victim of a hostile takeover of the company he founded and
processes he invented and pioneered. Very soon after he was given the "bum's rush" - the entire team of Publishing Agents had their contracts terminated. The latest wrinkle is that even cursory referral bonuses
available to anyone have also been dropped. That's the personal (mine) side to things. Here's the professional (yours) ... |
The bottom line to publishing in this day and age is a successful listing in
Amazon.com
- providing access to both international distribution via the Web, brick and mortar retail chains and the ever-popular mail-order-from-your-hammock-in-the-shade business model I espouse. Today there is a plethora of choices available to you that achieve this at various price points. |
So "what's all the hub-ub bub?" |
Honesty. Integrity. Theft. |
Amazon lists more "used" copies of books available than are accounted for in Trafford's royalty records. |
Insulate your work and your royalties by insinuating yourself in the process of fullfilment. |
Regardless of which company or package you ultimately decide upon - they all offer full turn-key fullfilment. |
And this is where the fox ends up guarding the hen house. |
I have found the extra hassle of conducting my own fullfilment, and only sourcing these P.O.D. services FOR THEIR PRINTING both allows me to sleep
better at night - and I get to autograph each copy that goes out. |
And what is better than that? |
In the end, the proof is in the pudding. |
When I began this blog a few years ago I had a half dozen titles. Today, I have 3 dozen. |
Keep going. Don't stop. Never give up. |
Next year marks my 30th anniversary as an Author/Artist. |
That covers a lot of ground - and a lot of rejection... |
And a bit of success! |
